FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) — Buying small things can be part of your big moments at the Fresno Fair.
Livin’ Local Marketplace showcases custom creations, clothing and candy from local business owners.
Cosmic Munchies is one of 38 local vendors participating in the celebration of Central California artisans.
Co-owner Lindsy Wolfe says they specialize in candy and freeze-dried produce.
“It’s a means of preservation, but it also changes the texture of the food,” Wolfe says.
Based in the hills outside Tollhouse, Wolfe and her boyfriend Morgan started out freeze-drying produce from their farm.
“We froze all of our produce because we could never use it before it went bad,” Wolfe says.
Once freeze-dried Skittles started trending on TikTok, her business took off. They’ve tried everything from freeze-dried gelatin and applesauce to Skittles and Jolly Ranchers.
It is a challenge to get the elements to survive the process.
“It’s been very frustrating at times, but also the reaction on people’s faces when they try it for the first time has been most gratifying,” Wolfe says.
These fully stocked shelves are a testament to their trial and error.
The samples offered have been a hit with customers.
“Especially little kids. Like their face lights up when they eat a gummy worm, but it looks and feels like a whiff of Cheeto,” Wolfe says.
Other providers are newbies.
Artistic Apparel owner Trinay Walker is making her debut.
The Visalia native launched her clothing and T-shirt design business two months ago.
“We want to cater to everyone from adults to babies and toddlers; we have onesies and hats,” Walker says.
T-shirts and t-shirts feature witty sayings and designs by Walker.
“It’s just nice to see that my crafts bring happiness to people,” Walker says.
