Small Business Focus: The Kindled Collective

FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) — Whether burned into a fedora or an upcycled denim jacket, Sabrina Montano’s artistic eye is prominently displayed on every piece in her line.

Using a soldering iron, Fresno Pacific’s unique graduated hands-free designs you can rock when you want to make a statement.

“I just imagine what I want that piece to look like,” he said.

Kindled Collective made its debut in September of this year. The line featuring Sabrina’s signature style quickly gained fans.

In addition to pop-ups where you can purchase Sabrina’s creations, the Valley native is offering you the chance to try hat burning with private parties and workshops.

You start by choosing your hat and your ribbons,

“There are a lot of things you can do in class, and of course I’m here to help you,” Montano said.

Open to artists of all levels, templates are available if free use isn’t your thing.

“It’s a learning process for everyone,” Montaño said. “You get a really creative hat that you made yourself.”

Sabrina says the feedback on the workshops has been great and adds how rewarding it is to see people wearing her creations while they are out in town.

“People get really excited about the hat,” he said. “They want to wear it, they want to show it off and that’s the best compliment I can get through this business.”

Kindled Collective will host its next hat burning workshop at Kunisama in northeast Fresno.
