Small business owners improve skills in accounting workshop

The Department of Industry of the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry, Fisheries, Rural Transformation, Industry and Labor organized a one (1) day workshop on accounting designed specifically for small business owners at the Telecommunications Conference Room.

The workshop was designed to provide twelve (12) small grant recipients with essential accounting knowledge and practical skills to improve the financial management of their businesses.

Facilitated by Madonna Johnson from the Center for Entrepreneurship Development (CED), the session covered key areas of basic accounting, helping participants understand the principles of tracking expenses, managing income and keeping accurate financial records. This fundamental knowledge is intended to help these business owners make sound financial decisions and ensure business growth.

The Department of Industry is tasked with facilitating the development of the industrial and private sector in Saint Vincent and the Grenadines. As part of its mandate, the Department provides strategic policy advice to the Minister of Agriculture on private sector development issues, technical advice and support to MSMEs with a strong focus on agricultural produce processors.

In addition, it administers the Tax Incentives Law that offers concessions to investors in the manufacturing sector.
