Small Business Saturday Considered a Success in Downtown Colorado Springs

COLORADO SPRINGS – We’re checking out some local businesses after Small Business Saturday. The general consensus in downtown Colorado Springs was that Small Business Saturday was a success.

Many people took advantage of the free parking over the weekend to visit the local shops downtown. Many of those small businesses depend on the income generated during the holiday season to keep them running.

James Ciletti, owner of Hooked on Books, says this time of year is vital for his business.

“The holiday shopping season is very important to us,” Ciletti said. “For many, it’s their first time coming to our Hooked on Books store, so it brings them together with books, and then we get a repeat showing or a repeat sale from those people later in the year.”

Ciletti says the store saw a 20% increase in sales on Saturday for small businesses.
