SHERMAN, Texas (KTEN) – The Sherman-based clothing company The Charlotte letter is looking to raise $20,000 to continue production of their unique clothing line.

Charlotte Letter creates clothing designed for children with special needs that allow easy access to medical equipment, such as GI tubes. Now they need to raise money to keep the business going.

“The money will be used to provide clothing for any children’s hospital, Cook’s Children’s Hospital, as well as help take care of any expenses around the office,” said co-founder Kameron Brooks.

Kameron Brooks and his wife created The Charlotte Letter after seeing how ordinary children’s clothing could not meet the needs of their daughter, Charlotte, who had multiple disabilities, including cerebral palsy. They have been in business for almost two years and appeared on the runway at New York Fashion Week.

Without the money, Brooks says their options are to reduce their staff or change their company’s focus.

“If we don’t raise the funds, then we have to stop providing or producing clothing for children with disabilities and make a pivot here,” Brooks said. “That pivot could look like the ability to add other clothing brands that aren’t tailored for children with disabilities.”
