George Values Diversity and Inclusion, and is Active in Staffing Industry Organizations
Spherion, a staffing and recruiting franchise backed by the Randstad North America talent company, has promoted Kathy George to president. She has been with the staffing and recruiting franchise for more than 20 years and most recently served as executive vice president.
George said she initially was drawn to Spherion because of its reputation, company culture and strong presence in the Northeastern U.S. market. “Since joining the company more than 20 years ago, I’ve had the privilege of being a part of significant transformations both within the business itself and the staffing industry. From Spherion’s restructure to being entirely franchise-owned to embracing groundbreaking technologies that change the way the brand operates, we have continuously evolved to better serve the needs of our clients and candidates while staying at the forefront of our industry.”
As president, she cites one of her top priorities as embracing opportunities for collaboration with franchise owners, whom she describes as “the heartbeat of our organization.” She said she also is thrilled to work alongside the staffing franchise’s corporate support team.
“I’m honored to congratulate Kathy on her appointment as president of Spherion and I look forward to working closely with her to reach our shared goals for both our organizations and the staffing industry as a whole,” said Marc-Etienne Julien, CEO of Randstad North America. “As we focus on 2024, I am confident that we have created a solid foundation for the future and have the right leaders in place to further our aspiration of becoming the world’s most equitable and specialized talent company.”
Diversity and Inclusion
As the leader of Spherion’s Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) Council, George understands that such initiatives play a vital role in cultivating equitable workplaces and help organizations reach their full potential. “Leading a DEI council means spearheading efforts to increase awareness and foster inclusivity within the organization and beyond in the diverse communities we serve. It involves creating spaces for dialogue, education and action to address systemic barriers and promote diversity in all its forms.” By amplifying underrepresented voices, George emphasizes that DEI initiatives enable organizations to harness diverse perspectives, which drives innovation and growth.
Active in Franchising
When she’s not on the clock, George is actively involved with organizations including the American Staffing Association, Staffing Industry Analysts and the International Franchise Association (IFA), which she credits as being instrumental in preparing her for her role as president. She said her engagement with these organizations allows her to stay up to date with current and emerging trends and best practices. Additionally, the industry veteran, who is a certified franchise executive (CFE), said she thrives in situations where she can learn from and network with other industry professionals.
