Taylor Swift has officially announced her support for the 2024 presidential election and is supporting Democratic vice presidential candidate Kamala Harris.
Swift made the announcement in a Instagram post moments after the first and perhaps only, Presidential debate between Harris and Trump Wrapped up Tuesday night.
“I will vote for Kamala Harris and Tim Walz in the 2024 presidential election. I am voting [Kamala Harris] because she fights for the rights and causes that I believe need a champion to represent them,” Swift wrote in the post.
“I think she is a calm, gifted leader and I believe we can accomplish so much more in this country when we are led by calm, not chaos,” the post continues. “I was so encouraged and impressed by her choice of Vice President [Tim Walz]who has been advocating for LGBTQ+ rights, IVF and women’s rights to their own bodies for decades.”
She further urged voters to educate themselves on the issue and make an informed decision at the ballot box. The post was captioned “Taylor Swift, childless cat lady,” a reference to previous comments made by Trump’s vice presidential nominee JD Vance.
Swift’s endorsement comes after Trump shared an AI-generated image last month that falsely suggested he had her support.
