Team preview: a new line of drivers and Audi on the horizon: Can you kick Sauber’s 2025 bring more hope than 2024?

Together with Hulkenberg’s experience, Sauber can also resort to the exciting promise of Brazilian Bortoleto. The 20 -year -old has Tell the list of praise in your name alreadyhaving won the Formula 2 2024 Championship and the Formula 3 2023 Championship before that.

The heroic of last season meant that it became the fourth champion in the F2 era to win the titles of F2 and F3 in successive years, after the current stars of the F1 Charles Leclerc, George Russell and Oscar Piastri. That is not a bad list of drivers with which they are already associated.

Last season

Sauber’s 20th season was, in a word, challenging. Other similar descriptions have also been offered: former pilot Zhou described him as “drainage”, while the main operations officer and technique Mattia Binotto had said that the team was in “survival mode.”

While the team at least avoided a campaign without a point thanks to the four points of Zhou in the penultimate race of the year, 2024 will certainly not live much in memory for those in the team, since they ended up dead in the last place in the Builder Championship.

In fact, much of the news about Sauber last year was dominated by personnel changes with the aforementioned Binotto, formerly director of the 2019-2022 Ferrari team, which joined in August, after the exits of former CEO Andreas Andreas Seidl and the Audi Oliver Hoffmann executive.

It was also announced that now the former sports director Bull Jonathan Wheatley will become director of the team, with a start date still to be confirmed.
