One of the interesting stories that emerged from Oliver Bearman’s spectacular performance as Carlos Sainz’s substitute at Ferrari at the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix was his forced adaptation to Sainz’s steering wheel controls.
Although Bearman had driven the Ferrari in the simulator several times, it had always been with Charles Leclerc’s steering wheel design. Drivers tend to customize controls to their preferences, especially more established ones like Sainz. But Leclerc had always retained the standard design, as it was originally designed.
