The 15 Best Recycled Backpacks and Bags (2023): Bags, Purses, Shopping Bags

The WIRED Equipment Team has tried dozens of backpacks, bags, purses, messengers, slingshotsand even reusable shopping bags. More and more of these bags use recycled materials that come from plastic water bottles, old nylon, and even fishing nets salvaged from the ocean. It is important to find ways to reuse what would otherwise pollute our oceans and sit in dumps forever.

In this guide, we’ve rounded up our favorite bags that use recycled materials in some way, shape or form. Not all bags are made from 100% recycled materials, but every detail counts. But first, ask yourself: do you need a new bag? If the one you have now really isn’t working and can’t be fixed, then you can rest easy with our picks below. Bags are often graded by liters, which explain more in a separate article.

Be sure to read our guides on the The best upcycled and upcycled products, The best recycled clothing, The best reusable products, The best laptop bagsand The best bags for cameras.
