The 2024 Ford Ranger will come with the STX special edition package included

For reasons that are not yet clear to us, Ford has made the STX Special Edition Package standard equipment in the newly introduced 2024 ranger at launch. The package dresses the midsize truck with body-color accents, LED headlamps, halogen fog lamps, damped action for the liftgate, and 17-inch aluminum wheels on the exterior, with premium cloth seats, a digital gauge cluster , 10-inch touchscreen infotainment and lane keeping assist for the benefit of those inside. Ford Added Package to the base XL version of the current Ranger in 2021 to provide some features that previously required a move to the $995 XLT but also required the $1,135 XL 101A Equipment Group. He truck above is the kind of thing that will be off the menu once 2024 rolls around dealers.

The current STX package also includes halogen fog lights, dual-zone climate control, privacy glass, rear defroster, dual USB ports, Android Auto, and Apple CarPlay. Motor Trend confirmed the change for the 2024 Ranger and mourned the loss of its grandfather’s stamped steel wheels, both a daily-style car and manual transmissions, pickup trucks and brown cars.

We specify “at launch” because the new Ranger will ship first with the higher models. The SuperCrew four-door short bed is the only option for buyers perusing the order book. For that truck, the 101A Equipment Group is long gone and the STX kit is listed with the $34,160 price tag. It’s possible that when the XL SuperCab with the six-foot bed goes into production, the steel wheels will return. Or maybe not. In which case, buyers would have to hit the after sales or consider the 2023 Chevrolet Colorado On base Work Truck trim, the midsize Bowtie is only available from the factory on a set of 17-inch Ultra Silver Metallic steel wheels paired with black fenders.

2024 Forest ranger production is scheduled to begin on August 7. We may start asking about bargain basement wheel options again when the automaker opens the settings menu.
