The best Google Pixel phone (2023): which model to buy, cases and accessories, feature drops

If you calculate all those individual services with the cost of the Pixel 7 Pro over the course of two years, your total is $1,806. So you’re effectively paying less ($486 less, to be exact). but it’s just In fact it’s worth it if you watch a ton of YouTube and use YouTube Music, rather than other options like Spotify. Google says that if you’re already subscribed to one of these services, your current plans will be canceled and you’ll receive a single bill for the Pixel Pass once your Pixel ships (though you’ll need to manually cancel YouTube Premium or YouTube Music Premium before signing up). pixel pitch).

About those older Pixel phones

pixel 6 pro

He pixel series 6 as of 2021 it is no longer available on the Google Store. You can find these phones at retailers like Amazon, though stocks are dwindling. Make sure you are paying the correct price. He pixel 6 has It went on sale for just $399 and the Pixel 6 Pro is down to $499. They’re still great phones and the former is a good deal for that price, but you’re probably better off with a discounted Pixel 7A or Pixel 7.

The Pixel 5 is not it’s worth itespecially since their software support window ends soon (Oct 2023), and it’s really hard to find a Pixel 5A new for less than $200. Amazon currently sells the Pixel 4A 5G for the same price as the Pixel 7A, and while it’s a good phone, it should be a lot cheaper. You’re better off sticking with the Pixel 6A or 7A. Anything else is no longer worth it. They are too old (and the pixel 4 suffers from poor battery performance). Many of those devices will stop receiving Software updates soon if they haven’t already. Buy one of the newer models.

Cases and accessories we like

Google official case

Photography: Google

The revamped case for the Pixel 7 series feels more durable than ever, and you can color-match it to your Pixel. The thermoplastic elastomer feels nice to the touch, and there are raised edges on the front to protect the screen. The Pixel 7 case is made from over 30% recycled plastic and the polycarbonate cover uses 77% recycled plastic. There are metal buttons for power and volume and they’re 100 percent recycled aluminum.

This is certainly the best case if you frequently attach your Pixel to the handlebars of an electric bike or scooter. Peak Design’s mounting system allows you to magnetically attach the phone to your Universal Bike Mount ($50) And it stays in place: After nearly a year of testing, I’ve yet to drop a phone from my commute with this mounting system. It also doesn’t disrupt the Pixel’s wireless charging. The company has several other magnetic accessories you can use as a car vent mount. The case itself is nice; I just wish the edges would be raised a bit more for better screen protection.

This is one of the best clear cases you’ll find for the Pixel, especially at this price. Buttons click, the Pixel’s color comes through clearly, and the rear doesn’t feel too sticky, which can be an issue with some light cases. Alternatively, I also really like Totallee’s clear cases, although they are a bit more expensive. Still, they are available for the pixel 7, pixel 7 proand pixel 7A.

Caseology Tempered Glass Screen Protector

Photography: Caseology

Pixel phones don’t have a great track record with screen durability: they scratch easily. We originally tested this protector for the Pixel 5A, but it’s no longer available. Caseology does sell it now for Pixel 7, Pixel 6 and Pixel 6A. Installation is easy and includes a squeegee to remove air bubbles. You get two screen protectors for the price, including a microfiber cloth, wipe, and dust removal stickers.

This is another easy to apply tempered glass screen protector. The Pixel 7 and Pixel 7A version come with two protectors, but Spigen only includes one for the Pixel 6A. Boo. You get a complete cleaning kit to clean your phone, an alignment tool to help you get the application right, and a squeegee to get rid of air bubbles.

This screen protector was really easy to apply and barely left any air bubbles. You only get a protector, but there is an alcohol wipe to clean the screen first, a microfiber cloth, an application tool, and a squeegee. The problem? It is not tempered glass, but a mixture of thermoplastic polyurethane (TPU) and polyethylene terephthalate (PET). It is a cheaper material that is normally not as resistant to impacts.

You only get a screen protector here and it is very expensive. That’s because Zagg claims the protector is five times stronger than traditional screen protectors. I haven’t seen too many marks on my Pixel 6A yet, but take it with a grain of salt. It’s easy to apply with the included application tool, but Zagg doesn’t include a squeegee at this price, so you’ll have to use your fingers to get any air bubbles out. It comes with a dust sticker, a wet wipe, and a microfiber cloth.

Google Pixel (2nd generation) support

Of the Pixels we recommend in this guide, wireless charging is only available on the Pixel 7A, Pixel 7, and Pixel 7 Pro. Google’s Pixel Stand is one of the best wireless chargers out there because it’s simple. The base doesn’t slide, the phone stays put, and it allows for some fun features like turning the screen into a digital photo frame and quick access to the Google Assistant. It’s made from 39 percent recycled materials, with mostly eco-friendly packaging, too. Our The best wireless chargers the guide has more options, including the original and cheaper pixel support.

This charging adapter is all you need to recharge your Pixel, whatever model you have. Newer higher-end Pixel phones don’t come with chargers in the box, so if you don’t have spare USB-C chargers, it’s worth picking one up. The tips of this one fold over, so it’s also great for travel.

These cases are expensive, but they do have raised lips and offer decent edge protection. The buttons click, and you have a few designs to choose from for the back, including walnut, leather, bamboo, silver pearl, and aramid fiber. (I love walnut). What makes this case special is that it is compatible with MagSafe, yes, Apple’s magnetic system for accessories. I have used Mous Limitless 5.0 successfully with some MagSafe Accessorieslike a Belkin wireless charger, to recharge the Pixel 7 Pro.

It’s slim, has a nice texture, retains the clicky buttons, and has precise cutouts for the ports and speakers. What could not be loved? Well, it’s kind of boring, but I still think this case is one of the best-looking cases in Spigen’s lineup. The edges aren’t raised dramatically, so don’t expect much screen protection.

Do you want a kickstand to hold your Pixel? This Spigen case has one built in and it works, though unfortunately, you can keep your device on only in landscape mode, which isn’t great for hands-free TikTok. It has a thick bumper that offers good protection around the edges, though there isn’t much of a protruding edge, so you’ll still want to pair it with a screen protector.

I like the soft-touch material on this case, and it fits the Pixel very well with precise cutouts and clicky buttons. It’s a bit dull, but it’s slim and the edges are raised enough to protect the screen. It’s a bit expensive for what you get.

This is another good clear case for the Pixel series. I like the textured power button, which makes it easy to find when you’re not looking, and there are points on the case to attach a lanyard (not included). It’s not as stain resistant as Ringke claims, but it’s easy to clean.

It takes a bit of effort to fit this case onto the Pixel, but once you do, it’s arguably the most protection you’ll find. There’s a two-piece polycarbonate inner shell that fits above and below the Pixel, and then a thick synthetic rubber boot is attached for extreme durability. Buttons are surprisingly fast, though the entire phone will be thicker, wider, and heavier. It’s made from over 50% recycled plastic and has a holster you can snap it into to wear your Pixel proudly on your belt. (The cover can double as a kickstand.)
