  1. Oh noo! I wish I could have some more videos from health like NEJM news or another health journal or magazine……so I could learn more English …. 🙁

  2. From VOA Learning English, this is the HealthReport.

Living among trees, flowers and other plants canfill your life with beauty.

And if you are a woman, it might also help youlive longer.

Researchers found that women who live inhomes surrounded by plants have lower deathrates than women who live in areas with lessgreenery.

The Harvard University's School of Public Healthreported the finding.

Peter James is an expert there on epidemiology,or disease spread.

He and his team looked at information from oneof the largest and oldest investigations ofwomen's health: the Nurse's Health Study, whichbegan 40 years ago.

It now has information on nearly 200,000women.

For the new study, the Harvard team looked atdeath rate records of more than 100,000 womenbetween the years 2000 and 2008.

Then they compared the women who livedamong the most vegetation and plants to thosewho lived among the least green space.

They found in that eight-year period, the womenwho lived among a lot of greenery had a 12percent lower death rate than the other women.

Researchers said women in greener areas spentmore time with others, exercised more and wereexposed to less air pollution.

For VOA Learning English, this is the last HealthReport from Learning English TV.

But, we are not going away.

We will continue to bring you videos to help youlearn American English.

Go to LearningEnglish.voanews.com to find newmaterials and to look for past Learning EnglishTV reports.

    I'm Carla Babb.

Thank you for watching and learning with VOALearning English.

  3. Hey fellow! Have you ever thought about that? I had no idea that women leaving in greener areas lived more and were exposed to less pollution. After knowing these supposedly true facts, i'm almost wishing to live with vegetation.
