‘There is no guide’: Oscar Piastri explains what surprised him about life in F1

“It depends a little on the schedule [with the simulator]“It could just be the weather from the week before, often more so during the week before… sometimes Tuesday can be a simulator day, so you have to train on Monday, fly to McLaren on Tuesday, use the simulator, train a bit more on Wednesday and then get to the track that evening or on Thursday morning for the press day at the track.

“If it’s like Australia or Asia, you’ll probably fly, say, the weekend before, just to get used to the time zone and jet lag, and for that mid-term simulation beforehand.”

POWER RANKINGS: Where do the drivers stand at the halfway point of the season?

After a strong first half of the season for McLaren, Piastri currently sits fourth in the drivers’ championship with 167 points, just 10 points behind Charles Leclerc in third.
