Things to do in Chattanooga this week include Jfest, Antique Alley Yard Sale, Down Home Days

Here’s what the Chattanooga area has to offer this week.

Devoted sons

According to new research, Tennessee is among the states with the highest proportion of self-confessed “mama’s boys” in the country. Using a combination of census data and survey results (3,000 respondents by QuestionPro), Mixbook, a design platform for photo books, ran the numbers for each state. Tennessee comes in at 69% of men ages 20-39 admitting to be mama’s boys. Georgia is at 65% and Alabama at 59%. Mississippi reigns as the top state for mama’s boys, with 87% of young men openly embracing the title. In contrast, Kansas takes the lead for men who are most independent from their mothers, with just 30% admitting to being closely tied to their mom’s apron strings. More than 1 in 3 respondents, 35%, said that being called a mama’s boy is a compliment.
