During the pandemic, many people were drawn to seaside towns, causing a surge in house prices. These coastal hotspots remain popular in 2024, with property values continuing to rise in most areas.
Rightmove reports that Bournemouth is currently the most sought-after coastal location among buyers. With its seven miles of sandy beaches, ample green spaces and proximity to the Jurassic Coast, it’s easy to see why.
The average asking price for a home in Bournemouth in 2024 is £360,298, marking a 22% increase from 2019.

Brighton takes second place, maintaining its long-standing popularity among Londoners seeking a seaside escape. The city offers plenty to do, from beach picnics to exploring quaint shops in The Lanes and dining at the harbour’s numerous eateries.
According to Rightmove, the average asking price for a Brighton home in 2024 is £473,391, up 11% from 2019, reports the Express.
Poole, the third most in-demand seaside town, boasts the world’s second-largest natural harbour, making it a perfect spot for water enthusiasts. Sandbanks, also known as Poole’s Millionaires Row, is home to an array of mansions, flats and houses.
The average property price in the area now stands at £463,367, a 21% increase from four years ago. The only northern area to feature on the list is Blackpool in Lancashire, famed for its six-mile stretch of lights and illuminations and its Pleasure Beach theme park.
Blackpool, with its mix of period homes, flats and large modern properties, has an average property price of £147,331, marking a 24% increase since 2019. Meanwhile, Weston-Super-Mare in Somerset, known for its sandy beach overlooking the Bristol Channel, is fifth on the list.
Its convenient location attracts visitors from across the country, including Bristol which is just a 20-minute train ride away. The town boasts a variety of houses, including Victorian ones built from Bath stone.
The current average house price stands at £281,170, reflecting a significant 27% rise from 2019 prices.
