Unbelievable Labor Day Mattress Deals: Unveiling the Top 13 Hybrid, Budget, and Innerspring Beds!

and on the Brooklyn Bedding website, so it’s not really a special sale. However, it’s still a great value for a hybrid mattress that offers a good balance of support and comfort. It’s available in multiple firmness options to suit different preferences.

Nectar Memory Foam Mattress for $799: Although this mattress is frequently on sale and advertised as a great deal, it’s actually the standard price that we see year-round. It’s a decent memory foam mattress with a medium-firm feel, but there are better options available for the same price or even lower.

Tuft & Needle Original Mattress for $595: This mattress is often touted as an affordable option, but it’s actually the regular price. It’s a basic foam mattress that provides decent support, but it’s not as durable or comfortable as some of the other mattresses on our list.

Casper Original Mattress for $1095: Casper frequently offers discounts and promotions, so this is the typical asking price. It’s a popular foam mattress with a medium firmness level, but there are better options available for the same price or even lower.

Overall, while these mattresses may be good options, they are not as discounted as they claim to be. It’s always important to do your research, compare prices, and read reviews before making a decision. Don’t be swayed by flashy sales tactics and always look for the best value for your money.

labor day is just around the corner and mattress companies are starting sales early (naturally). Our advice for buying a mattress is to never pay full price and always look at the offers with caution. Sales prices are usually the actual MSRP in disguise. We track prices throughout the year and highlight the deals that are really good. All prices are for queen size.

Updated August 2023: Added Casper offers, dream cloud, and lock and needle. Some prices have dropped more than Helix, Birch, and My Green Mattress.

Helix Midnight Luxe Hybrid Mattress

Photography: Helix

Enter the code LDS20 at checkout to get this discount and two free pillows. This is not an uncommon asking price, but it has come down since we checked last week. The Helix Midnight Luxe is our top pick overall. With this pricey bed, you’ll get six layers of foam and individually wrapped innerspring, making it over 13 inches tall. It is medium firm and comfortable for almost all sleeping positions. There are other levels of firmness within the luxury collection that we did not try

Enter the code LDS20 at checkout to get this discount along with two free pillows. This Helix model is new to our guide, so we haven’t been tracking it for that long. The current sale price is less than what it was last week, however it’s still about $230 more than what we saw during Prime Day. WIRED mattress tester Martin Cizmar has been sleeping on soft sunset model, but there are several firmness options to choose from depending on your needs. They are 16 inches thick and come in two large, heavy boxes – the two pieces snap together to form a bed.

Enter the code MADE IN USA at checkout to get this discount. This isn’t the cheapest we’ve seen, but it’s a rare sale. It is our recommendation for a child. organic mattress, made with certified organic cotton, wool and latex. This price is for the double size.

Birch Luxe Natural Hybrid Mattress

Photography: Cole Slutzky/Birch

Enter the code LDS25 at checkout for this discount and two free pillows. This mattress is a new pick in our guide and is now even cheaper than when the sale started. If you want an organic mattress, it’s a nice upgrade and higher-end version of the standard model that we recommend in our organic mattress guide. It’s comfortable and the medium-firm feel is great for most sleep styles. It’s finished with a layer of blended cashmere for temperature regulation. The Birch Luxe is GOTS-certified organic and uses natural latex with no polyurethane-based foams.

This is the typical asking price we see, so it’s not a bad buy. However, it was down to $1,117 during Prime Day. The Mint mattress is our pick for pressure relief. You’ll sink into it more than any other medium-firm foam bed, but it’s still supportive and cool. The top layer of foam springs back into shape once you remove it, so you shouldn’t come home to a psycho-esque indentation.

Allswell Hybrid Mattress

Photography: Walmart

The Allswell Hybrid is the best cheap mattress we’ve tested. It’s usually $349 from Walmart (Walmart owns Allswell), but it dropped to this price at the end of May. We don’t know yet if this is the new standard price, but if you need a bed and want to spend as little as possible, it’s a good option. It feels a lot more expensive than it is, beating out other super-cheap beds we’ve tested. It’s medium-firm and the top layer of gel-infused memory foam keeps you cool. If you can spend a little more, the Allswell Luxe for $399 it is even more comfortable (although it is not for sale).

use code LD2023 at checkout to get this discount and two free pillows. Molecule’s hybrid mattress is one of our honorable mentions. Unlike many of the mattresses we’ve tested, it’s not usually on sale forever. This discount matches what we saw during Prime Day. It’s a comfortable hybrid bed, but it lacks a lot of edge support.

these deals are good

mattresses below are discounted but they are not as good as they say or we have tracked them even lower.

Photography: DreamCloud Sleep

DreamCloud is one of our honorable mentions, and our tester says it was comparable to the comfort of the Helix Midnight Luxe. This price is affordable in the mattress world, but the sale isn’t as big as it seems. Every time we track it, we see it for $899 or $799. It’s also down further last weekend, so if you can keep an eye on it, you may save more soon. Still, it’s a good price if you want to buy it right now.

This is technically a sale, and it hits its list price of $1,495, but it’s frequently in this price on amazon. Still, this is the hybrid mattress we say you should buy if you just don’t know what to buy. It’s about as default as you can get, with a nice balance between soft and supportive. For a brand that basically put bed-in-a-box mattresses on the map, that’s a good price.

Bear’s foam mattress is a new addition to our guide, so we haven’t had much time to track down the price. However, we have seen it sink this low before. We’ll continue to track it down, but this isn’t expensive by any means for a bed we really liked. It’s firm, but there’s also a nice hugging feeling as you sink into the first layer.

The purple foam mattress

Photography: Purple

We saw this mattress for $200 less last week. If you can wait, you may be able to save a bit more, but this is the typical asking price we see. If you’ve ever searched for mattresses, you’ve probably seen Purple. This isn’t a hybrid, but it does have a cool, comfortable, jelly-like feel, thanks to the brand’s signature silicone mesh. Purple has hybrids, but we haven’t tested them.

This innerspring mattress is new to our guide and something to consider if you’re sick of foam mattresses that come in a box. We tested the version with ultimate support and a Plush pillow top., which is more expensive than the basic offers you see when you first enter the product page. We found that combination to strike a great balance between softness and support. This won’t come in a box, so you’ll need to schedule delivery by truck, but luckily, this modern innerspring doesn’t require a box spring either.

While the Awara is technically priced at $1,399, it’s almost always $1,099, so this price is $100 off and in line with what we saw during Prime Day. This is ours affordable organic mattress choice and is made of latex foam and organic wool. It’s supportive and bouncy, with little motion transfer, but we could feel the springs a bit more than the other mattresses we tested.

These are not really sales

Mattress brands and their sales tactics cannot be trusted. if something is always on sale so it’s not really a sale, is it? That’s why we keep track of prices to see what’s even more discounted than usual. These beds are all good options and top recommendations in our guides, but they’re really no more discounted than we usually see.

  • Green Avocado Organic Hybrid Mattress for $1,799 (With Labor Day Code): Avocado is 10 percent off forever, but this is our best organic mattress choice and the only one WIRED senior writer Scott Gilbertson could agree on with his wife. Although he liked the firmer beds and she preferred the softer ones, this was both without being too much of either.
  • Leesa Sapira Hybrid Mattress for $1,699: Our runner-up mattress commands a higher price in Lee’s websitee, but it’s normally $1,699 on Amazon all year long. It was also cheaper in early August. In our tests, we found it to be cool, cozy, and soft, yet firm enough to relieve some pressure as we drifted off to sleep.
  • Brooklyn Bedding Signature Hybrid Mattress for $999: This bed is always $999 both here and at Amazon. We’ve seen it drop even lower on Amazon, so if you can wait, you might get a deal. This bed is very firm if that is what you are looking for.
  • The WinkBed Hybrid Mattress for $1,499: We haven’t tracked the WinkBed down to its list price of $1,799 yet. It’s a good bed if you’re not sure what you need, with fantastic edge support. It is relatively firm, but there is an additional plush pillow top.
  • Nectar Memory Foam Mattress for $699: Although the price went up to $799 for a moment on amazon, this mattress is almost always $699. Nectar is a classic and comfortable memory foam mattress that is ideal for side sleeping.
  • Saatva Zenhaven Natural Latex Mattress for $2,945: The Zenhaven is a new pick for us, so we haven’t tracked it very long, but it was actually $150 cheaper last week. This mattress has one side that is plush and the other that is firm. We did notice a difference, but not as much as having separate soft and firm beds.
