FORT WASHINGTON, Maryland. – The 34-year-old small business owner in Prince George’s County decided to take matters into his own hands after thieves stole nearly $40,000 worth of equipment used for his landscaping company.
Kevin Moore, the owner of DLC DMV Landscaping and Jireh’s Place Nursery, managed to find his own stolen trailer that was used to steal five brushcutters, backpack blowers, two expensive lawn mowers, and a power washer from his warehouse more than two weeks ago. Moore says he was driving on Quarters Avenue in Capitol Heights and saw a trailer parked near his house and decided to call the police. Prince George’s County Police verified the VIN number on the trailer and it matched Moore’s stolen trailer. Still no word on the items stolen from him that he needs to get back to work.
“It’s been an exhausting three weeks, this is very mentally and emotionally draining. So I’d like my stuff back,” says Moore.
After listening to our initial report a local hardware store donated more than $500 to Moore and a Florida landscaping company lent him equipment until he can recover. Moore also received $8,000 from his insurance company.
Police are still investigating this incident and ask anyone with information to call them.
