A team of six students aged 16 to 18 from the Marie-Thérèse-Gymnasium in Erlangen, Germany, lifted the Aramco F1 in Schools World Champions trophy in Singapore this week as a global STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) competition. celebrated its 18th World Final.
A record over 350 students from 26 countries competed in the World Finals, held at Resorts World Sentosa in Singapore, but it was Recoil Racing who beat the other 67 teams that had progressed through their respective regional and national competitions.

Khalid Al Zamil, Vice President of Public Affairs at Aramco, presented the trophy to the champions at an awards ceremony on Wednesday evening. The world champions will receive a full scholarship to UCL Mechanical Engineering and an exclusive experience at the Singapore Grand Prix, where they will once again receive their trophy atop the podium at the Marina Bay Circuit in front of an audience. in the stands on Saturday.
Recoil Racing also scooped the Verbal Presentation Award from the Alfa Romeo F1 Team, as well as the Research and Development Award from the McLaren Formula 1 Team. The judging panel was chaired by former Jordan and Jaguar F1 technical director Gary Anderson. , who highlighted the passion, creativity and skill that Recoil Racing put into their project.

F1 in Schools is a non-profit social enterprise that aims to change the perception of STEM subjects. The competition allows students between the ages of 9 and 19 from around the world to participate in a multidisciplinary challenge in which they must use professional CAD software to design, analyze, manufacture, test and race air-powered miniature cars.
Australia’s Propulsion took second place, with England’s Nightingale completing the podium.
The World Finals also featured 19 additional awards, with all 10 Formula 1 teams individually supporting one award. Among them, China’s Intercosmic received the fastest car award from the Mercedes-AMG PETRONAS F1 team, while Propulsion received the best engineered car award from Williams Racing.

The key objectives of F1 in Schools are to improve educational opportunities in STEM subjects globally, increase diversity in motorsport and promote the importance of sustainability. In recognition, Panteras Racing of Mexico received the Formula 1 Sustainability Award and Athena Racing of Greece won the FIA Women in Motorsport Award.
New this year was a prize for an optional challenge in which teams could develop a car with a replaceable nose cone that could be dismantled and replaced in the shortest time possible, mimicking an F1 pit stop. Romania’s Ford Celeritas has won the inaugural F1 Manager 23 Nose Cone Challenge.
