MUHLENBERG TWP., Pa. – The Small Business Administration’s Eastern Pennsylvania office calls Unique Snacks an absolute treasure.
“They’ve done some really great things and they’re doing great things here in their community,” said Rob Goza of the Small Business Administration’s Eastern Pennsylvania Office.
The pretzels are flowing inside the family-owned Muhlenberg Township-based business as it receives the regional 2023 Family-Owned Small Business Award by the Eastern Pennsylvania District Office. Officials said they looked at several businesses in 40 counties when deciding on the award.
“Unique Snacks completely dominated that competition. Their history is phenomenal; their success has been amazing,” Goza said.
The company, with around 90 employees, dates back more than a century ago, with six generations. Justin Spannuth and his brother are now at the helm.
“It is a humbling honor to receive this SBA award for a family business,” said Justin Spannuth.
A legacy that goes beyond the borders of Berks County and is sold nationwide.
“We’re working really hard to grow the company, to keep it a family business and try to maintain the legacy that we’ve inherited,” Spannuth said
With its roots right here in Berks County.
“We see a lot of growth in the very near future,” Spannuth said.
