Ford Performance Reveals Dealer-Installed Supercharger Package for F-150 Trucks
Ford has always been the go-to brand when it comes to powerful and performance-driven pickup trucks. The automaker recently announced its new package for the big and muscular 2021-2023 F-150 trucks, the FP700. This dealer-installed performance package now fills the gap between the standard 5.0-liter naturally aspirated V8 engine and the mighty Raptor R’s 5.2L supercharged V8 that produces 700 horses and 640 pound-feet of torque.
What is FP700?
The FP700 is a package that packs a punch into the 5.0-liter V8 engine often found in the 2021-2023 F-150 trucks. It adds a 3.0-liter Whipple supercharger that increases power dramatically, ultimately cranking out 700 horsepower and 590 lb-ft of torque, an upgrade of around 300 horsepower and 180 lb-ft of torque over the standard naturally aspirated version. The FP700 also comes with an upgraded transmission, fuel injectors, a throttle body, and a new cold-air intake system.
What to Expect with the Package
The FP700 power package is only available for F-150 XL, XLT, Lariat, and Platinum models with a 5.0-liter V8 engine. Furthermore, Ford recommends that buyers should also get the Sport Appearance package to complement the FP700 package’s look. Here are some of the highlights of the FP700 Power Package:
Black/Bronze Editions – Dealers install the Bronzing or Black Edition front grille, front fender vent, rear lowering kit, tailgate graphics and lettering, and 22-inch wheels.
No Pro Power Onboard Outlets – The FP700 power package is available for rear-wheel drive or all-wheel drive, with regular cab, extended cab, or crew cab with a 5.5 or 6.5 foot bed. However, this package is not available with the 8.0-foot bed or the Pro Power Onboard outlets in the bed.
Warranty – The FP700 is 50-state legal, with a manufacturer-backed 3-year/36,000-mile warranty when installed by a Ford dealer or ASE-certified technician.
Pricing Starts at $12,350 – Both the Bronze Edition and the Black Edition are available to order via the Ford Performance website and cost $12,350.
What the Critics Are Saying
The 2021-2023 Ford F-150 is creatively designed, with much credit going to the aluminum build and modern tech features. The V8-powered F-150 seems to have the edge over its competitors that rely on the smaller engine for outright speed and towing power. There have been mixed views when it comes to the FP700. Some auto critics believe the package is too expensive, with its close price comparison to the fully equipped Raptor R. Others, however, believe it’s an excellent addition to the 2021-2023 F-150 lineup, providing truck owners with the opportunity to experience the high-performance excellence that the Raptor R offers while saving a few bucks.
Additional Piece
Automakers are continuously in an endless race to provide consumers with the best pickups to meet their needs. The utility vehicles’ performance is what makes them appealing to a broad spectrum of consumers. As the world gears up for the electric future, Ford’s FP700 package may represent the final hurrah for the brand’s fiery V-8 engines. It comes as no surprise that with the environmentally-fueled competition, car manufacturers are shifting to create more sustainable solutions.
The global trend toward electric vehicles is hardly surprising, considering the push for cleaner energy sources through more sustainable and renewable alternatives. As the world shifts its focus to green vehicles, automakers are beginning to think outside the box, looking to electrification as a solution to creating sustainability without compromising performance.
The FP700 proves that Ford is still clinging to its roots and the American spirit of big displacement and big horsepower, providing excellent performance options for those who love trucks. As automakers seek cleaner energy solutions, the sport-utility vehicle and pickup truck segments may ride out the golden era of gasoline-fueled performance. However, it will take some time before we see these high-performance giants transition into more sustainable energy sources.
Summary
Ford has recently announced the new FP700, a dealer-installed performance package for the 2021-2023 F-150 trucks, much to the satisfaction of fans of the brand’s V8 engines. The advanced package marries the 5.0-liter V8 engine with a 3.0-liter Whipple supercharger, thereby increasing the vehicles’ horsepower output from 400 to 700. The package delivers a faster and more powerful truck with more torque and increased speed. Plus, Ford has provided a cost-effective solution for those who, for any reason, want the Raptor R’s powerful supercharged V8 available at hefty price range. The FP700 package will help to meet the performance demands of many truck enthusiasts as we approach the dawn of the electric era. The package seamlessly combines the automaker’s distinguished muscle and brawn with modern tech and performance to deliver a truly unique driving experience.
