To kickstart my Saturdays, I take an early morning walk with my daughter in the 9th arrondissement, where we reside. The scent of freshly baked pastries from our beloved neighborhood bakery, mamicho, entices us to indulge in their classic brioche. With warm brioche in hand, we make our way to Debeaulieu, a luxury florist renowned for its elegant flower arrangements. Here, not only can you find exquisite bouquets, but also a curated selection of designer homewares, perfect for adding a touch of color to your home or finding a special gift for a loved one.
Lunch at Le Bon Georges: A Taste of Parisian Bistro Culture
After satisfying our senses with the beauty of flowers, it’s time to satisfy our appetites. Le Bon Georges, a classic Parisian bistro, beckons us with its menu inscribed on mirrored walls and chalkboards. With tables dotting the sidewalk and an extensive wine list, this bistro is just the place for a leisurely and delectable lunch. Renowned for its premium beef dishes, particularly the steak and chips, Le Bon Georges is a must-visit (and their prix fixe lunch menu offers great value).
Gourmet Shopping and Sweet Indulgences
As the afternoon rolls around, my daughter takes her nap, allowing me time to explore Martyrs Street, a historic street in the 9th arrondissement lined with gourmet shops, cafes, and farm stalls. My first stop is Sebastien Gaudard, where I can’t resist trying their renowned chocolate cake. Next, I head to Babka Zana for a cinnamon babka roll and Rap Epicerie for the best Italian produce in Paris, including their oval-shaped spicy salami, smoked escamorza, and homemade tomato sauce. Finally, I visit Pink Bakery for their mouthwatering zucchini pizzetina and incredible chestnut cake, perfect for a weekday treat.
Serene Moments in the Museum of Romantic Life Garden
With all the shopping done, I carve out some time to immerse myself in one of Paris’ hidden treasures—the garden of the Museum of Romantic Life. Once the home of the Dutch artist Ary Scheffer, this serene haven hosted famous artists, writers, and composers such as Delacroix, Dickens, and Chopin for evening salons. After enjoying moments of tranquility in the garden, I indulge in a cup of hot chocolate at Soho House, conveniently located nearby.
Dinner Delights and Unforgettable Cocktails
Dinner in Paris is a sacred affair, and I prefer to savor delectable pasta and ravioli at The Gallant Cuoco, our local Italian restaurant. What makes this place truly special is its warm and inviting family atmosphere. After dinner, a leisurely stroll leads us to Divine, where we are serenaded by their excellent 90s playlist and treated to creative cocktails. Ending the evening with a pisco sour is the cherry on top of a perfect Saturday night.
Carousel Joy and Coffee Bliss
Sundays start with laughter and joy as I take my daughter to the carousel on the top of Martyrs Street. After some playful fun, we head to KB Toasters for a comforting cup of coffee accompanied by cream-filled buns and homemade jam. It’s the perfect way to savor the slower pace of a Sunday morning and prepare for the week ahead.

After the hustle and bustle of the work week, my weekends in Paris, my home for the past 20 years, are sacred. These are quiet days spent in the 9th arrondissement, where I live with my husband and daughter, focused on delicious food, walks with loved ones, and recharging for the week ahead.
On Saturday mornings I go for an early walk with my daughter and we are usually drawn to the warm, buttery air wafting in from mamicho, our local bakery. It has become our weekend ritual to buy our favorite classic brioche. be lost.
With a warm brioche in hand, we almost always head to the nearby Debeaulieu, a luxury florist that creates some of the most elegant flower arrangements in Paris. In addition to beautiful bouquets, Debeaulieu also sells a mix of designer homewares, making it my favorite place to buy something special to add color to my home or buy a gift for a friend. You’ll be hard-pressed to find anything similar in the city in terms of the selection of flowers they have and the intricate arrangements they create.

As soon as my hands are busy, it’s time to fill our bellies with a delicious lunch at Le Bon Georges, a classic Parisian bistro with its menu written on the mirror and a blackboard, tables along the sidewalk outside and a long and excellent wine list. The restaurant is famous for its premium beef dishes, particularly steak and chips, which I can guarantee is worth a visit (and the prix fixe lunch menu is reasonably priced).
After lunch, I usually put my daughter down for a nap, which is also my chance to do some of the week’s shopping at the famous Martyrs Street, a historic street in the 9th arrondissement that runs from Pigalle to Montmartre and is lined with gourmet shops, cafes and farm stalls. My first stop is in Sebastien Gaudard to try the best chocolate cake in town, followed by a visit to Babka Zana (Rue Condorcet) for a cinnamon babka roll, then Rap epicerie (Flechier Street) for some of the best Italian produce in Paris, including their oval-shaped spicy salami, smoked escamorza, and homemade tomato sauce. Finally, I enter Pink Bakery for its excellent and tasty zucchini pizzetina and its incredible chestnut cake, perfect for a weekday lunch.
Once all the food is prepared, I like to make time to read in what I consider one of the hidden treasures of Paris: the garden of the Museum of romantic life, the former home of the Dutch artist Ary Scheffer, who with his daughter used to organize evening salons there with famous artists, writers and composers, including Delacroix, Dickens and Chopin. This moment of tranquility is usually followed by a delicious cup of hot chocolate in Soho Housewhich is conveniently very close to the museum.
Dinners are sacred and we often spend evenings indulging in fresh pasta and ravioli at The Gallant Cuoco, our local Italian restaurant, which we love for its warm and family atmosphere. After dinner, we will walk towards Divine for their excellent 90s playlist and their equally excellent and creative cocktails. My advice is to finish with the pisco sour, the perfect ending to a Saturday night.
