Uproar over Paytm QR code installed in Badrinath-Kedarnath, now temple committee’s clarification – Paytm qr code Badrinath Kedarnath Temple Committee Police Complaint lclar

Badrinath and Kedarnath temple committee has clarified its position on Paytm QR code. Dr. Harish Gaur, the media in-charge of the committee, told that through Paytm, the facility of digital donation is made available to devotees and pilgrims in major temples of the country. In this sequence, in the board meeting of Shri Badrinath Kedarnath Temple Committee (BKTC) held in the year 2017, a resolution was passed to enter into a contract with Paytm to provide this facility in Kedarnath Dham.

In the year 2018, there was a contract between both the parties. Since then Paytm has been continuously installing small sign boards of QR code in Shri Kedarnath Dham. Apart from Kedarnath, many signboards of large size have been installed in Badrinath Dham during the present Yatra from Paytm. But before installing the boards of QR code on behalf of Paytm, the officials of BKTC were not given any written or verbal information regarding the installation of boards or their size, location etc.

There was an agreement with Paytm in the year 2018

These were immediately removed when they came to the notice of BKTC officials. BKTC has also investigated the matter from its own level and due to the possibility of any kind of fraud, has lodged a written complaint with the police. After an internal investigation by BKTC and a complaint to the police, the temple administration was contacted by senior officials of Paytm. On this lapse on the part of Paytm, BKTC President Ajendra Ajay expressed strong displeasure with the officials of the company and termed it as an irresponsible attitude.

The committee had received a donation of 67 lakhs through Paytm.

On this, the officials of Paytm have expressed regret for the whole incident while verbally accepting their mistake from the BKTC administration. In its investigation by the temple administration, it has been found that since the signing of the contract through Paytm, till now the temple committee has received Rs 67 lakh as donation.
