Flashy glassware doesn’t have to be cheesy. In Copenhagen 3 days of design In June, a variety of colorful options set the tone. Danish brand Reflections displayed a glass backgammon set: its dark blue border combined with black/brown and blue checkers, complemented by purple and green dice. Its game collection also included other classics, such as chess and tic-tac-toe. Another venue, Helle Mardahl Studiostood out at the festival: Its quirky shapes, presented in surreal settings, included its Signature glasses, a take on a classic coupe in multiple color combinations (from $360) and a delightful pear- and lavender-colored cake stand ($1,410).
The British Glass Biennale taking place in the West Midlands later this month will also offer another rainbow. Phoebe Stubbs, founder of Collect glass (London’s last remaining female-run glassblowing studio) has produced a bold trio of vessels called Push It, after the 1986 hit Salt-N-Pepa song. Celia Dowson‘s Reflections plate (£1,760) combines a subtly tinted cup and vase with a fused glass plate, and the Wales-based firm Neil WilkinThe mango-colored table sculpture features loose, scattered petals in an ode to a blooming flower. As for the others: here are 13 pieces to brighten up your table right now.
