Maybe they lead less healthy lifestyles.
they don’t always get early and proper prenatal care
There can be other causes other than ethnicity. Similar conditions exist in the English speaking Caribbean where the majority of doctors are black as well. Furthermore, as black women disproportionately have more abortion than others, it may lead to complications in desired pregnancies.
First is lack of consistent access to healthcare because of lack of insurance, next is lack of prenatal vitamins as still frequent belief must be prescribed (false), cultural bias to really unhealthy foods during pregnancy and excessive weight gain. Then there is lack of male support during and after pregnancy causing increase in financial stress and interference with transportation, also housing instability when male leaves or no longer able to work for complications. Medical bias against listening to what women of any race say… even if you use exact medical term care is less likely for women. I could go on.
