There used to be a whole lot more witches earlier, in many far-off places that had been the same for century after century. "Cunning Folk", they were called, and was sought out for herbal cures, charms, spells, helping with births etc. And they were mostly women, and I guess old women, filled with wise words and years of experience of all sorts of problems.
Eventually the Church caught up with this tradition, and did what they did to "fix it"…
In the documentary they talk about "sterotypes", but to be honest they are creating a feminist sterotype themselves, that no such thing as witchcraft ever existed. And if anyone say this they are ridiculed or worse, to be punished to not say such things anymore. But people believe in witchcraft these days, and they used to believe in it earlier too, so to claim that nobody tried it is simply nonsense. Angry old WOMEN using curses and charms and spells to try to harm those they hate, instead of the more physical nature of men.

These women should have been looked after by their community. That many of the victims of largely male hate were unmarried may have been for many reasons. I prefer to remember my own depraved pursuit of physically attractive women. Not that I, in turn, can do much about how I was made. The male version of a witch is a wizard, so I wonder why they never paid any attention to wizards? The whole concept of a Devil is a man made image, created from evil by simply adding a D in front, so the Devil is evil and the original evil in Hebrew is Ra'ah, to be wrong, to stir up trouble, to lead astray by actions or words and also to miss the mark and more! The imagery of a Devil is likely a Roman Catholic concept to instill fear and extract money in the form of indulgences, so your soul can be saved from hell, where the false devil lives waiting to burn you in hell! So when you understand this, you will likely see, that such a concept of an evil devil is Ra'ah – wrong, errant and confusing in order to create a fear mechanism by which you will open your purse or wallet and make your donation to the jiggery popery church!

This behavior/thinking is a lot of what sorts of things that still control how we react to things and shows how we all need to look inside ourselves and try to understand that we all have a part that is not rational, and dangerous.
