  1. You have to request the names of the Dr's who declared it not medically necessary from the insurance company. They MUST provide you with that information – and that will reveal that the decision was made at a low level and usually results in a review and approval.

  2. Turn this around if a doctor said not to do the surgery and the patient died the family could sue and win. Thank you City of Hope for pulling through for this patient, but the sad part is that rotten insurance company still skates by without any repercussions. They will just keep laughing all the way to the bank$$$$$$😡!

  3. So many people on the political right want to talk about how the USA has the best healthcare in the world, but that's only if you can afford it. If you don't have a willing insurance company or a vast amount of wealth to pay for a procedure outright, you're not able to get the care you need. It doesn't matter what procedures are possible in the US, only which ones you can actually get performed. Then they'll say if you're sick, you can always go to the ER… Well guess what? They don't perform surgeries such as these in the ER. And do you know how stressful it can be just dealing with one of these companies? Universal healthcare systems may not be perfect, but something is often better than nothing. And if you ask people who actually live in those countries what they think about their healthcare system, they often love them and sing their praises. And it doesn't matter whether you go to a for profit or not-for-profit hospital. Believe me, there's no such thing as a hospital that doesn't make money for someone. Someone is always getting paid. In 2015, I worked for a not-for-profit hospital in their surgical recovery room. We weren't allowed to give patients saltine crackers, because they apparently spent too much money on crackers the previous year. Nurses weren't given raises at their annual reviews. Patients and family members had to pay for parking at the facility. A salad at the hospital cafeteria cost a small fortune. Yet that year, the CEO retired and on top of his multi-million dollar salary, he got a FORTY MILLION DOLLAR BONUS. At a not-for-profit. Healthcare in this country is a disgusting joke.

  4. She needs to take it to her federal and state representatives. Media needs to also get involved. Praying for this mom and daughter.

  5. Your medical insurance industry is a joke. I would not be alive today in an American health care system. But im sure most Americans would agree. Last year my husband got sepsis, spent 2 weeks in hospital and all it cost was $70 for TV rental. But he had free round the clock care, he was hours from death when admitted – had life saving surgery within 30 minutes of getting to hospital, and I still have my husband and our kids their dad. Shame on your insurance companies!

  6. Medical Insurance companies around the world are generally pariahs. They collect your subscriptions happily and then play God when needed the most!! Peace of mind insurance is actually a sword hanging over your head!! You never know when you will have to fight for what you've paid for!! Really sad and immoral!

  7. Bc the insurance industry is mobalicious……it's a shake down business, concentrating on the weakest and most in need bc they are scavengers and cowards

  8. insurance companies are good in taking money but dont want to give anything back. i hope she can change the company, becuase if they leave you all alone in situations like this, they dont really care for you, just your money. they dont deserve any more of it aither.

  9. She does not need surgery. She needs to go to a naturopathic doctor, consume healthy diets, 90 essential nutrients like selenium, exercise, get plenty of rest, stay In healthy and safe environment, and be around positive people.

  10. My husband needed a heart transplant, the insurance rejected it, he passed shortly after. Two weeks after I buried him they sent a letter saying they reconsidered but it was to late

  11. Tell me again how great America is. Meanwhile countries that don't even have a fraction of the GDP of the US can afford to provide healthcare to all it's citizens. America is pathetic.

  12. There should be a law stating companies can't deny life saving procedures. Lady, look around there are other options. Everyone should drop this company.
