In light of this tragedy, it is also important for parents and caregivers to take proactive steps to reduce the risk of sudden infant death. This includes ensuring that infants are placed on their backs to sleep, using firm and flat surfaces for sleeping, avoiding soft bedding, keeping infants at a comfortable temperature, and avoiding exposure to smoke and tobacco.
