ATLANTA — As 11Alive continues to hear from hundreds of viewers about missing mail and packages connected to a new United States Postal Service distribution facility in Palmetto, small business owners say they, too, are feeling the impact on their wallets.

Antionette Bibbs, owner of Balanced Momentz, a skin care and candle company, told 11Alive that she runs her business as cleanly and efficiently as possible, which is why she feels her impeccable reputation is being tarnished by related issues. with the USPS facility in Palmetto.

“They don’t care because we’re pocket change to them and it affects my livelihood because if I can’t get my product to someone in a timely manner, especially when they’ve paid for priority, then think about me, not the post office,” Bibbs explained. .

The small business owner said she has been waiting for weeks for supplies that are critical to launching her new line of merchandise. She added that hundreds of dollars in supplies have been stuck between Palmetto and Atlanta since early March with no answers from the post office about when they will arrive.

“If they had communicated properly two weeks ago, I could have reordered, although that is extra money,” Bibbs said.

Despite his frustration, he said he can empathize with the postal workers caught in this mess because he’s been through it before.

“I myself worked briefly at the Crown Road facility,” she explained. “I’m sure they’re definitely overworked right now, because if the mail is piling up, the work is piling up. I’m sure that.”

Earlier Friday, for the first time, 11Alive was able to speak with an employee inside the facility in Palmetto. He didn’t want to appear on camera for fear of his job, but shared that “it looks like things may be getting better.”

“It may take a little time,” she said, adding that she empathizes with the frustrated, as she is enduring delays with her own mail.

“I’m just being patient,” the employee said. “Everyone be patient. We are working as hard as we can.”

While employees plead for the community’s patience, business owners like Bibbs said they can only wait so long because their livelihoods are at stake.
