The Chinese Baidu engine has launched two new AI models: Ernie 4.5, the latest version of the company’s fundamental model first released two years agoas well as a new reasoning model, Ernie X1.
According to ReutersBaidu states that Ernie X1’s performance is “along with Deepseek R1 at half the price”, and promotes the “high EQ” of Ernie 4.5, which allows the model to understand memes and satire.
