Burlington County is preparing for another exciting year of its small business workshop series in 2025.

In the workshop series, local entrepreneurs can attend free seminars to improve their skills, knowledge and business contacts.

Burlington County Commissioners, in partnership with the Burlington County Bridge Commission, have scheduled a series of sessions covering everything from marketing and business planning tools to QuickBooks.

And the best part is that everything is free, although registration is essential.

Felicia Hopson, Burlington County Commissioner, could not be clearer about the value of these workshops.

She considers small businesses to be the backbone of the local economy and community. “When small businesses succeed, we all win”he stated.

Hopson emphasized that the knowledge shared in these workshops can have a significant impact, whether you are a newcomer to the business world or a seasoned entrepreneur seeking new strategies.

Sandra Nunes, chairwoman of the Burlington County Bridge Commission, echoed this sentiment. She believes the success of small businesses is the key to the area’s economic growth.

Nunes highlighted feedback from previous workshops, which showed that these sessions really hit the mark.

“We are excited to continue offering more support in 2025”. he added. “These workshops, along with networking events and our resource fair, provide a fantastic opportunity for business owners to meet, learn and grow.”.

The first session of the year begins January 16 at 10 a.m. at the Burlington County Library in Westampton.

This in-person seminar will delve into small business tax preparation, a crucial topic for any business owner as tax season approaches.

David Evans, senior director at Bowman and Company, will lead the session. He will use his experience to help business owners navigate the complexities of taxes and maximize their savings.

The series continues in February with two essential workshops.

On February 14, at 10:30 am, a virtual session will explore marketing tools for small businesses. UCEDC staff will guide participants through the best tools and strategies to reach customers effectively in today’s competitive market.

Then, on February 19, a workshop focused on networking will be held at 10 a.m. at the Burlington County Library.

Led by instructors from the LAEDA Business Services Center, this session is perfect for entrepreneurs looking to expand their network and make valuable connections.

March brings more valuable sessions, starting with a QuickBooks webinar on March 14 at 10:30 a.m.

QuickBooks is a powerful accounting tool that helps businesses Manage finances and payroll, essential for any business looking to stay organized.

Later in the month, on March 19 at 10 a.m., an in-person seminar will cover business planning, helping entrepreneurs refine their business strategies and set realistic goals for the future.

Since pre-registration is required, interested business owners can easily register online through the Burlington County Bridge Commission Economic Development page.

In addition to these workshops, the Bridge Commission is planning four business networking events throughout the year.

Additionally, the county’s annual Business Resource Fair will return in May to celebrate Small Business Month.

Last year, the fair was a huge success, attracting more than 100 business owners and featuring representatives from more than 20 state, county and federal agencies.

Burlington County’s support of its small business community does not go unnoticed.

State Assemblywoman Carol Murphy expressed her excitement about the upcoming events and encouraged local business owners to utilize these free resources.

“Burlington County is a fantastic place for businesses to grow and prosper, and programs like these are crucial to keeping our economy strong and vibrant.”. -Murphy commented-. “We want to make sure business owners, both new and established, are aware of these opportunities to help them succeed.”.

If you are a small business owner in Burlington County or looking to start a business, this is your opportunity to gain the knowledge, tools, and connections you need to succeed.
