Reinde, nev. (Kolo) – Small businesses throughout the country are being recognized this week for their role in the national and local economy. In Reno, Midtown has become an access point for small businesses.
“Working for yourself is the most difficult work you do and also very rewarding,” said Hunter Howatt, the owner of Pixels and Ink and Wall Space Gallery.
Howatt established a store in 2013. “Which is fantastic. It has only grown since we have been here.” The company produces impressions of Fine Arts while showing paintings by local artists.
The owner says he trusts paper and ink from foreign countries, and tariffs are causing problems. “Those are still sent by China. It doesn’t matter what we are affected. Some of those companies sent emails throughout the country saying that prices are raising 25% depending on the imposed rates. We would really love to see them immediately, so we are not forced to increase prices both in the consumer,” Howatt said.
In times of uncertainty, rent is still the most important. Depending on the size of the property, the average rental is between $ 1,000 and $ 5,000 per month.
“The rent is difficult below, but I don’t think I want to be in another place of reindeer,” Triplett said. “Just reminding me of the general panorama helps me overcome difficult times,” said Hope Triplett, the owner of Sierra Belle Boutique.
Triplett is the third owner of Sierra Belle since his establishment in 2016. She says she continues to change her company to improve the shopping experience for customers. “I really want each person to enter Sierra Belle to feel better when they go from when they enter. Simply creating that great atmosphere where they feel comfortable and safe.”
There are multiple clothing stores in that area, so finding ways to market on the Internet and building clientele can be a challenge. But Triplett says he enjoys the unit in Midtown. “Every small company that is here in Midtown has its own unique atmosphere. We are one of those small businesses and leads us all to create this destination in which the Midtown is becoming.”
