Managing director Dougie Bell praised his staff after Edinburgh Boiler Company (EBC) was named Small Business of the Year at the inaugural Scottish Business Awards organized by The BusinessDesk.com.

The company overcame tough competition and won the category that recognizes companies with up to 50 employees.

Speaking after the awards ceremony in Glasgow, Bell said: “To say I am proud would be an understatement, but great businesses are not built around one person, they are built by great teams.

“Awards like this are never won individually. They are the result of an entire team that shows up every day, works hard, cares about what they do and constantly strives to be better. From our engineers and surveyors to our office staff, managers and support teams, every person has played a role in this achievement.

“What makes this award even more special is the level of competition. We weren’t just competing against companies in the heating and renewable energy industry. We were up against some of Scotland’s best companies across all sectors. To be recognized on that stage and come out on top is something we are incredibly proud of.”

EBC was also shortlisted for High Growth Company of the Year, with Bell adding: “Since taking on the role of CEO, I have had the privilege of working alongside an incredible group of people who have helped build EBC into the business it is today.

“Together we have faced challenges, embraced change, expanded into new markets, won large contracts and continued to strive to improve.

“The most important thing is that we have stayed true to our values and never lost sight of the customer. This award is a recognition of that journey.

“A huge thank you to every member of the EBC team, our customers, our partners and merchants who have supported us along the way. This belongs to all of you.

“I’m incredibly proud of what we’ve accomplished, but we’re even more excited about where we’re headed next. The future is bright!”
