  1. Golf should be 9 holes, football 2x players per team, baseball 2nd base moved to the pitcher's mound, and tackling allowed. Who cares about continuity of history!

  2. For me I work on a friday, so I can't watch the quali / races.
I like the lack of practice sessions as it means setups are more likely to be wrong and therefore mix up the grid – look at the races where they have pre season testing they all know how to run the laps

  3. I'm torn on Sprint Races, on one hand I like them and on the other I agree with everything people are saying in that it's diluting the product. I do agree though that there's too much practice. If it was me, I'd bin off Friday completely, this way it would make things cheaper for all teams (cost cap 🤣) and at the same time not give teams oodles of time to tweak everything to n'th degree. It could introduce that factor of luck where one team, who you wouldn't normally expect, to be further up. Yes the likely teams will always be there or thereabouts but it does add a little more jeopardy into it as it relies on the team getting right straight out of the gate. There's never going to be a magic bullet as there's too many vested interests, like Red Bull here, and agree with Damon where the Sprint could decide a Championship which isn't the best way of deciding it, although neither is the stewards making a dubious decision 🤣 I hope they pick the right way forward and focus the entertainment on the race, there's an easier way to do this and that's get rid of all the practice, oh and it'll save money too

  4. 🤔Be careful, jess very funny…? I will come back to that later..! But Look as an f1 fan, practices spints pole I love it all I get to see more of the cars i take away more info on teams and how cars are performing And opinions from the presenters and pundits think it's all great as a f1 fan fantastic. but coming back to be careful, jess Damon Hill was putting across a great point about the interference by the FIA jess was about to back it up with something that happened in 2021 but then Simon Lazenby Interjected by saying be careful jess laugh laugh..! Its as though there is a Gagging order is in play at sky sports 🤔what do you think ?Let's play a game who can guess what jess was about to say.. anyone…? Great podcast some good topics.

  5. I do like the idea of a reversed grid. Even though it will never happen but never say never come on. There is nothing more exciting and satisfying than a driver coming through the field. I think Mr Hill has a point not only that I think about what happened in 2021 when Paris held up, sir Lewis, it was epic seeing a driver who was no mach to sir Lewis hold him which allowed max to win the race with help from main man in the Fia 🎉

  6. Simon has a grait point about referring he go's on to say we should respect the ref and it should be final..! in football we have var in Cricket and
in tennis we have a Similar Thing such as hawk and this why the FIA are brought into contention Ross Brwn aka FIA set out the rules In 2020 2021 he whent on to say that they had teeth and they will use them and any team Gets caught cheating will be disqualified why wasn't that fine this question go's to the panel of sky sports podcast and any one who would like to Join in and pls and keep it respectful thak you

  7. I’m not sure how serious Verstappen is with his threats to “leave the sport” if the FIA don’t defer to his wishes. I mean after all resigning from being a repetitive F1 world champion is quite a big step. However I guess as a young man in Holland he could possibly become an apprentice Tulip grower for instance? (I know, as a keen gardener and oap, I would love to do that?) mmmm, choices choices…..

  8. Friday should be for reserve drivers. The driver won’t get points but the team will still get constructors points. COME ON DANEEEEE! 😁😁😁😁

  9. Its all very fine having "significant" stuff on a Friday but this is rather disrespecting the audience who work 5 days a week. Qualifying in Saturday, race on Sunday. Fine. Frequently there are other races – F2, F3, Porsche. Maybe its a failing of the broadcasters/stakeholders not to make more of those. In addition, are we making drivers work too hard and creating too much stress?
….and where are all the females in racing?
I'm reserving judgement on this sprint stuff. I'm leaning towards not.

  10. The race weekend should all be sprints. Maybe 3 = much more entertaining, and with no mandatory stop = no tire strategy rubbish. AND, with light fuel from the start, because of less laps, the cars can race as they should, not bog around like fuel tankers.

  11. F1 has mostly been an event where one team dominates and mostly one person/team wins year after year (yawn). 'Drive to Survive' boost was from the abnormal tight race between Max and Lewis. If the F1 race format does not change it will go back to one team/driver dominance (it has already), and all those 'Drive to Survive', fans will go away until the next close championship. (if they live that long).

  12. The one factor a lot of people, especially FOM, are overlooking, is practice time for drivers. Less than three hours a weekend is already a ludicrous amount of time to “practice” for drivers, and given that teams aren’t allowed to test their own cars anymore, when exactly are drivers supposed to practice?
This is especially apparent with rookies. We’ve had an inordinate amount of rookie mistakes these last few years and some of it is absolutely a result of not being given enough time to get used to the fastest circuit cars in the world!

  13. Friday 1st session : Practice
Friday 2nd session : Sprint Race ( Grid in reverse order of the previous race or driver standings)
    Saturday 1st session : Practice
    Saturday 2nd session : Qualifying
    Sunday : RACE

  14. Personally I like innovation and creativity in seeing change happen; I welcome the changes and I think that 1 practise session should be dropped; adding uncertainty is what makes supporting sports fascinating and interesting – if there's a way to make a 'show' of each day then thats definitely all the better as far as I'm concerned; yes, practise is important but so too is the race! Make each day have an equivalent points but where each next day ups the ante with more points being available for positions.

I also think that points should be awarded for up to 12th or even 15th place so the mid teams get a better fight and adds depth to the unfolding story of the sport…

  15. I believe the FIA has made a decision to use different tires for each stage of Qualifying: hard for Q1, medium for Q2, and soft for Q3. Additionally, it could be beneficial to introduce a mandatory 2 pitstop rule during the race, where each car is required to use all three sets of tires according to their preference. This would eliminate the strategy of saving tires for a single pitstop race. To further enhance the competition, a minimum of 10 laps on the hard tire could be imposed whenever it is not the optimal tire choice (I came up with this idea later)… IJS

  16. Whats driving this need for more entertainment is the reductions in pit lane speed, in simple terms the time penalty to take a pit stop means its better to cruise around managing tyres than coming in and changing them, particularly as the current format allows the teams to work out ahead of the race who will win etc. What's needed is more variables, like bringing back refuelling, smaller fuel tanks etc so you can't do the whole distance on the fuel you start with, that might force more intense racing. I also think that they should revert to starting on the tyres they qualify on, that brings back some context for how hard you use the tyres in qualifying, now you can wreck them and start on a new set, it doesn't make sense. Sprint races are pointless and a sticking plaster to hide the real problems which is the quality of racing in the main GP.

  17. Sprint races should be eliminated, it has no place in Formula 1. F1 cars are not NASCAR or Indy cars where every part they use is off the shelf. F1 cars need 3 free practice sessions to set the cars up properly, sprint races create danger for the drivers, and the teams can lose cars over this gimmick. Formula 1 isn't intended to entertain chocolate-faced children at a county fair. Formula 1 has been gaining fans over the years, the FIA needs to step back because they're cheapening the sport. Get real leadership.

  18. Yess is so much better now, after all Saturday is now the useless session.
If the park ferme for Saturday was a different one it would be interesting, but putting a tiny weekend in the middle to give more points to the top teams is just stewpid

  19. Thus far, I don't like sprints. I don't think they add anything. And I think they dilute the race itself. They are an unnecessary distraction from what should be THE big show.

  20. "we want to see all the teams up there fighting"

I find this opinion interesting because do we want ALL of them fighting for wins? IMO 3 teams is the sweet spot for number of teams fighting for championships. Maybe another team or two with a chance to steal a win during the season. I think the rotating hierarchy is a cornerstone to formula 1 and team bosses have historically admitted that they know they are only there for a certain amount of time. Sometimes it's 1 season, other times it's the entire decade. It creates a great narrative and also gives drivers goals to achieve a drive in a "top team". I believe there are plenty of good reasons to not have all the teams fighting for wins.

Curious what the professionals opinions are on this.

  21. This will put extra wear n tear on the car an parts and give extra chances for someone to take someone out an wreck their championship.
They may as well have participation cups or trophies an it will fatigue the drivers for the race the drivers only human guys

  22. A lot of half baked speculations here. My experience with sprint races are just not that appealing. It dilutes the excitement from qualifying and the the race, period! It’s about money, nothing creative about this format! Oh and Simon, if someone has the best car … why would he worry about a sprint race? Most of the drivers are not fond of this format, Max speaks out.

  23. Don't like the sprint races and DRS, krs was better because it the drivers who where in control to when to use it as in indycar , the soon it goes the better.

  24. Go back to unbroadcasted free practice on Friday only. Qualifying on Saturday and GP Sunday that’s what makes it interesting as you have less running, also less engine mileage for reliability reasons.

  25. Getting rid of practice is the stupidity. It isn't just to duel the car in its the only seat time they get. And is just blind to the reality of those driver have to trust the car your asking them to go ice skating in shoes. It isn't about reliability it's about safety.

  26. Thumbs up for Damon
    a) a super nice person it seems and also
    b) the one with a truely great microphone / audio and video setup
the other two guest much worse setup !! Echo-Apple-low-Chin-Cam-Simon and squeaky-tin-can lady…
    Way to go Damon 🎉🎉🎉

  27. It’s weird to consider to drop free practice… you build cars for millions of euros and then you hamper the teams by making the setup and educated guess ?!
I’d rather take out team advice for the drivers, limit the communication from team to driver to safety relevant stuff and have the drivers make their strategies… that would shake up the grid for sure….
