Max Verstappen turned in a commanding performance, during a rain-hampered race in Monaco, when he sealed his second Principality victory ahead of Aston Martin rival Fernando Alonso.
In addition to securing his fourth win of the season, his Monte Carlo triumph extended his lead at the top of the drivers’ championship to 39 points.
Starting on pole, Verstappen made a perfect start as he led the race and built a solid gap to Alonso in second before the rain fell.

However, Verstappen and his Red Bull team handled the change in weather conditions well, despite the Dutch driver hitting the barrier on occasion as he pulled away from Alonso late on to win by more than 27 seconds.
Alonso finished second for Aston Martin, ahead of former Alpine teammate Esteban Ocon in third, with Lewis Hamilton and George Russell finishing fourth and fifth respectively for Mercedes.
Home favorite Charles Leclerc finished sixth, ahead of Pierre Gasly’s Alpine and Ferrari team-mate Carlos Sainz in eighth, with the McLaren pairing of Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri completing the top 10.
