Hornchurch Sewing Studio wins Theo Paphitis Small Business Sunday Award

Hornchurch sewing studio Elasha Creations, run by founder Nichole Goodison, recently received a prestigious award from former Dragons’ Den star Theo Paphitis. Awarded the ‘Small Business Sunday’ award, Goodison’s dedication to sewing and fashion education was highlighted at a notable small business event last Friday.

Recognition of a dragon

The weekly ‘Small Business Sunday’ award, the brainchild of Theo Paphitis launched in 2010, highlights small businesses across the UK. Announced across Paphitis’ social media channels every Monday, it encourages entrepreneurs to pitch their businesses. Nichole Goodison’s Elasha Creations, which offers a variety of sewing classes for adults and children, stood out among the entrants, earning her this award on December 4, 2023. “Just being selected from so many people entering and launch was huge for me,” said Goodison, highlighting the importance of such recognition for entrepreneurs.

A paradise for creativity

Elasha Creations, located at Fairkyes Studios in Hornchurch, has become a beacon of creativity and learning under Goodison’s leadership. With over 35 years of experience teaching sewing, Goodison has developed a curriculum that caters for both adults and children, fostering an environment where the art of sewing is not only taught but celebrated. From after-school sewing clubs to adult workshops, Elasha Creations offers a variety of classes aimed at inspiring creativity and individuality in fashion.

The journey of Elasha’s creations

Goodison’s journey into the world of sewing and fashion began in her childhood, growing from an introverted passion to a thriving business she started in her home in 2015. Demand for her classes soon surpassed the limits of her living room, leading to the establishment of a permanent space at Fairkytes Studios in 2018. “I think you should be able to create your own individual style,” said Goodison, reflecting on her motivation for starting Elasha Creations and her love of teaching sewing. Her dedication to her craft and her students has not only shaped the lives of many people, but has also earned Elasha Creations a well-deserved place in the spotlight, courtesy of the Small Business Sunday Award by Theo Paphitis.
