How to DAD | Jordan Watson | TEDxChristchurch

Jordan Watson was bored at home with his four-month-old when he decided to make a video for a friend who was expecting. Overnight, he became a viral sensation, and How to Dad was born. In this hilarious, charming, and inspiring talk, Jordan shares the journey of How to DAD and the lessons he’s picked up along the way. Jordan Watson A.K.A – How to DAD, created his first comical parenting video in 2015 and hasn’t stopped since. In under two years he has amassed over 180 million video views and has an army of 1.4 million followers across Facebook and Youtube. Over the past year he has published two “instructional” books and in May of this year released a NZonAir web-series all about throwing Gumboots. How to DAD has his sights set on taking over the world, in a cute, comical way of course. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at https://www.ted.com/tedx

  1. The thing about Parenting is that there is no guide, there is no science to it, it cannot be quantified, and trying to do so makes you fail at it. there are no parenting experts, because everyone who has done it (and even everyone who hasn't) already is by the time they face it. It is one of the strongest innate things that all humans are born with the instinct of and willingness to learn. The fact Watson 'makes it up' means he's doing perfectly and exactly how God has made it out to be, across all species and all walks of life. This man is successful not as a figure in society but as the natural and obligatory guardian of his children because he accepted the guiding force of nature and met his responsibility with joy, enthusiasm and most importantly, wonder. That is how you life all of life and it is definitely how you teach it. This man is an inspiration and he shouldn't have to be to all people on this earth and a hopeful beacon to all children that should their parents fall short of how God intends their upbringing to go, there are people and the ability overall to change it for the better.

  2. Im Filipino and we have seistas. Its common for us kids to sleep in the afternoon, and my dad is both the bribe and sleep over type. 😅he puts me to sleep every time.

Also 28y/o me having irregular sleep issues (due to my long undiagnosed ADHD) takes me for a car ride at 2am and hoping I would feel drowsy even after my meds 😅
