I got catfished

Ai Generated images are getting to realistic. Luckily I found this tool that can tell if a photo is a deepfake or ai generated.

  1. It does a good job, but a little too good a job. I have upscaled several hundred old photos to higher resolution and better sharpness. All of these are real photos but are detected as deepfake.

  2. The implementation likely relies on noise distribution and what would be expected as the output of a model. If an image has natural noise then this will deviate from the expected noise on almost every pixel by at least some amount, and the gen cannot tell that beyond outputting slightly different entire maps depending on its input.

  3. I know a married couple who both had their pictures redone as deep fake versions of themselves to make them both look like teenage heart throb models or movie stars. They now look at each other's deep fake naked photos when they make love.
