“It has gone very, very good. We started this association with Aramco a few years ago, we started with a sustainable fuel of 55%, and it was part of the plan to ensure that we reached 100% normally in 2026.
“But due to the fantastic work that Aramco has been doing, we have been able to anticipate it and do it this season, which has been a big thing.”
Both Junior categories have been used as a test bed for F1 in the past, as with the larger size of the 18 -inch Pirelli tires, first used in F2 in 2020 before F1 adopted the same tire size of 2022.
Just as Pirelli was able to develop the largest F1 tire compound based on the findings generated in F2, the use of 100% advanced sustainable fuels from Aramco in F2 and F3 has developed to be ‘surrendered’.
Drop-in fuels develop to be chemically identical to conventional fuels, which makes them compatible with existing motor technologies and power unit. They eliminate the need for important modifications for cars to use them and reduce CO2 emissions in the process.
