What an idiot. I dont think she actually cares about her kids safety, she just wants to be poplular and use her kid for views and likes. If she cared, it would be all the way around. A lollipop isnt safe either.
I actually heard an argument otherwise the other day, which is that in wintery cold areas, you should wear your coat while driving so that if you are flipped off the road, you don’t die of hypothermia waiting for help to come.
The car safety design is so far behind. If you can't protect a child in a coat at -30 windchill, snow blowing, then guess we should no go anywhere. If parents demand better design, we would get one. The seat belt fits at 5 points. If a child is in a coat and the shoulders are in proper fit, the chest strap is adjusted to the upper chest, and crotch strap is secure, and the total harness is tighten until it is uncomfotable. The child is not going to fly out.
Don't let them (nor you) wear their winter jackets while driving. In case of an accident the force which is meant to be transferred from the seatbelt to your hip bone and collerbone to minimize damage is transferred directly to your guts when you wear a thick winter jacket. In this case internal bleeding is possible.
Trying to act like a role model parent when your kid eats a sucker while you drive get your priorities straight and stop posting your kid on social media your kid doesn’t want to be on here
I went down a rabbit hole the other day and I give you a trigger warning here for a horrible child involved car accident:
Basically the space was to big between the kid and the car seat, due to the jacket. Like way to much jiggle space. The truck driver, first on the scene, who saw the whole accident also saw some doll like thing fly threw the air, hoping it was the family cat. It was the child’s head. There was not even another car involved, just the dad loosing control and spinning the whole car a couple of times.
Same goes for adults!! When I was learning to drive we tried a simulator that shows you what a full stop crash feels like even at a low speed (like 15km/h). With a big jacket the seatbelt weren’t as snug and close to the body as it should’ve been, so even at that low of a speed it hurt a lot more. The difference was definitely an eye opener, I can only imagine how much more dangerous it would be when the speed is higher.

My daughter is 5 months old, and they make a car seat blanket that the harness goes through, so she's always wrapped like a burrito in her car seat! 😂
