Be honest. How many stores, bars or restaurants do you know they are so great that you would be willing to drive more than an hour?
Especially in New Jersey, where driving is a combat sport full of stress. I’m looking at you, GSP south on a Friday afternoon in summer. A national survey of thousands of people was made by Advanced Funds Network To see what small companies throughout the country are so popular, their usual clients would be willing to drive for an hour to experience them.

To inspire such passionate devotion, most of them were about food, but not all. Some exceptions were easy street in West Seattle, Washington and Chamblin Bookmine in Jacksonville, Florida.
Here in New Jersey, the small company more worthy of driving was in fact a restaurant. He is in Bradley Beach, and has existed since 1947.

Vittorio “Vic” Giunco and his wife Carmella emigrated from Genoa, Italy, at the beginning of the 20th century. Vittorio finally opened a bar in Bradley Beach when the prohibition ended, which was very successful.
His son John Giunco thought about expanding to a restaurant in 1947 and he and his mother Carmella perfected Italian recipes, attracting a large number of followers.

Vic has lasted four generations, always family property, and has been iconic in that area.
His crispy thin bark pizzas and his classic pasta dishes combined with an old school environment have not made any trip to Bradley Beach without passing.

For many fans who drive more than an hour for dinner there was no theoretical question; In fact, they have done it many times.

As far as it is worth: the small company #2 in New Jersey that was chosen as dignified driving was Word Bookstore. It is an independent store in Jersey City.
The #3 was The Pop Shop in Collingswood, a retro restaurant with a feeling of the 1950s.

If you know me, you know that I love any type of pasta. The good thing is that Vic is only half an hour from Freehold.
Vic’s is located at 60 Main Street in Bradley Beach.
