Since the launch of Fulfillment by Amazon (FBA) in 2006, independent vendors have sent more than 80 billion articles through the program, which allows them to offer quick and reliable shipments while focusing on the development of products.

The traditions of the inheritance of painting in Taylorsville, founded by Paula Blankenship in 2013, exemplifies this success.

“Amazon levels the playing field. If you are in a small community like us, you can climb throughout the country with FBA,” Blankenship explained. “When customers see prime, they know that the product will arrive in one or two days. People today values their time as money. Fast shipping is important.”

The report shows how Kentucky companies are part of a larger transformation into a retail trade, and independent vendors now represent more than 60% of total Amazon sales. At the national level, these vendors have generated more than $ 2.5 billion in sales in the last 25 years and exported more than 2.5 billion items worldwide since 2000.

Small businesses in rural areas and small cities throughout the United States have seen sales increase 30% year after year, which demonstrates a particular strength in regions such as Kentucky, where entrepreneurs are using Amazon infrastructure to reach customers beyond their local markets.

FBA has changed the game for many small businesses, providing access to logistics capabilities once available only for larger retailers. This has allowed delivery on the same day or the next day for many items, delighting customers and accelerating sales growth for small businesses.
