how do we know that the AI went rogue? how do we know that the AI was working as intended, but once caught, OpenAI had to pretend it went rogue? Sounds like a legal argument to avoid lawsuit.

Has anyone watched 'I, Robot'? Black mirror? We're literally on the most direct path to live that. As if we've not been warned before. Sleepwalking into that reality. Human stupidity really is boundless.
It does matter though if it's allegedly safe when the right restrictions are put in place.
The problem is that a) I don't trust the people heading these companies. b) People make mistakes. And c) that they should not have the power to develop these powerful Al systems to start with!! When are we finally getting regulation put in place so that the public can be safe in knowing that there can be no more accidental rogue going. ALL OF THESE EXPERIMENTS should be under government supervision and signed off by the government. I don't care if it takes a further ten years to develop Al. There is no time pressure here, except the one that these CEOs try to allege.
