Small companies, South Geography: Down in Alabama

In advance costs

We know that one of the economic benefits that Alabama offers is a relatively low cost of living. Then, one would think that most of the things would cost at least a little less than in the states where people earn more money and have to spend more in the essential.

But a study shows that Alabama is surprisingly an expensive place to start a business, William Thornton reports from Al.com.

In fact, according to Simplify LLC, it is more expensive to start a business in just five other states.

Simplify LLC provides information to small businesses. Basic commercial costs (labor, space, public services), business environment and taxes were analyzed.

Contributing to the expense of entering business in Alabama is a high LLC presentation rate of $ 200 and a relatively high corporate income tax of 6.5%. And we are number 11 in the nation for the cost of rent of the commercial space.

Of course, all that is aware of the real cost of doing business, and can raise entry barriers for people with liquidity problems that seek to open a store.

As we all know, Alabama has also had difficulties with the low participation in the workforce and was 57.6% for the study. We also have a low loan rate through small businesses.

The most expensive state to open a business was California, followed by New York and Hawaii and then another surprise, Tennessee, at number 4.

March magic

The state of Alabama will shoot him against Auburn in the NCAA male tournament, Andrew Hammond of Al.com reports.

A long Micah Simpson pass to Amar Knox at the other end of the court led to a tray with a remaining second and a 70-68 victory over St. Francis in a first game of the four Games of the Regional NCAA of the southern tournament.

It is the first victory of the Alabama state in the tournament and sends the 16th Horms seeds against the best Auburn seed at 1:50 pm on Thursday.

The state of Alabama followed up to nine points during the first half.

Do you want to buy a front property of the Gulf?

One more element that is slightly out of Alabama, but it gives me the opportunity to show a chip that many of us in the south have on our shoulders when national news is forced to look in our way.

I will not go to the geography of geography in all of you, but after NASA Astronauts Butch Wilmore and Suni Williams returned to planet Earth Since their unexpected stay extended aboard the space station, news reports seemed that astronauts had splashed “off the coast of Tallahassee.”

Then, at first, I thought that perhaps the splash occurred in Lake Jackson, where red soft plastic worms could make a bass smell. Or maybe its Spacex capsule was moving in the danger of water along the right side of Street No. 3 in Jack Gaither.

Because, as the real coastal residents of St. Marks or St. George Island will say, more than 20 miles separate Tallahassee from the Gulf of Mexico.

That is how many Morrison coffee shops remain. The chain began on mobile devices in 1920, reached its maximum point during the 1970s and sold to Piccadilly in 1996. Today, Mictilly marks only one of its stores like Morrison’s, and is located in the city where it all started.
