Small company of the month: Gats Only Veterinary Clinic

The Columbus Blue Jackets are excited to associate with First Merchants Bank to recognize small businesses in our community. Every month during the season, a company will appear as the Small business of the month Presented by First Merchants Bank. The small company of the month of February is VETERINARY CLINIC OF CATS ONLY.

Andrea Lukuch is a cat person.

In your line of work, that means a lot.

Lukuch is the owner, the hospital administrator and the self -domening Chief Kitty Petter of the Gats Veterinary Clinic, which serves our feline friends of locations in Columbus and Lewis Center.

Taking into account that Lukuch began at the clinic in 1996 and assumed the position of Dr. Cynthia Bowlin as owner in 2016, being a cat has traveled a long way.

“(Dr. Bowlin) said: ‘The people of the cats want something different,’ and I drank that Kool-Aid, and realized that the people of the cats do it,” Lukuch said. “Their cats are so special to them, and they realize that cats are just a different animal from a small dog, which is what many veterinary hospitals treat cats. Then, for more than 35 years, we have been taking care of these little precious creatures. ”

The clinic has also been doing it at a high level. Cats was only recognized as a friendly practice for gold cats by the American Association of Feline Practices in 2013 and has landed on the list of the best places to work on Columbus Business First every year from 2019 to 2024.

The clinic’s mission statement is that the veterinarians and staff members speak Meow: they provide significant attention, excellence, originality and an experience that is worth it.

“Customers want something better,” Lukuch said. “They want something different. They challenge us every day about what we can do so that their cats are more comfortable. They want avant -garde technology. They want the best medicine for their cats. And my team delivers. They want the best for our patients, so they strive for excellence. Miau really speak. “

The services provided include standard veterinary care, as well as advice of behavior, vaccines and preventive care, surgery, dental well -being, diagnostic services, shipping and preparation, and claw advice. It is also only one of the three clinics in the center of Ohio that performs radioactive iodine treatment for cats that suffer from hypothyroidism.

Everything is supported by the decades of experience for the clinic, which opened in 1988, and its veterinarians.

“Get the little ones: every body movement, every mustache, we know what the cat says,” Lukuch said. “It is very rewarding. We know that when each member of our team lies and puts the head on the pillow, they know that today they did a great job to make sure the link between the owner and his cat is maintained. “

The Gats Only Veterinary Clinic was organized by the Blue Jackets in the team game on February 6 against Utah Hockey Club, having the opportunity to see the game from the club level and take a photo on the ice after the game.

And in case you ask how Lukuch feels about other animals, he is a fan.

“We love dogs,” Lukuch said. “We just don’t work with them.”
