VALDOSTA, Ga. (WALB) – The South Georgia Black Chambers (SGBC) are stepping in to help local and surrounding residents and businesses affected by Hurricane Helene.
According to the release, the “Train the Trainer” program was led by Lee Hill, SBA public affairs specialist, and equipped them with “the knowledge and resources to guide community members through the application process for SBA Disaster Loans. This program was completed by key members.
“Our underserved and underrepresented communities are our priority due to persistent and historical knowledge gaps related to SBA resources. “We are committed to ensuring our communities are empowered to rebuild stronger than ever after Hurricane Helene and beyond,” says DeWayne Johnson, President/CEO and Founder of SGBC. “This training event has given us the tools to help underrepresented residents and business owners access crucial financial resources.”
The SGBC will partner with the SBA on Saturday, January 4, 2025 to host the Community Resource Fair from 1 to 4 pm at the Valdosta Lowndes Parks and Recreation Authority Administrative Office.
The event will feature presentations, credit repair resources, one-on-one assistance with SBA representatives, and resources to help attendees navigate the loan application process.
