Swindon ‘shots’ claim in footage of armed police raid

The video, which has been shared with this newspaper, shows several police cars and armed police surrounding a property on Bath Road, Old Town, shortly after 6:30 p.m. on Friday.

At one point, there are several loud bangs and flashes of light that some have suggested could have been gunshots.

But others have speculated that this could be some kind of flashbang type device.

In another clip taken by the same person, a line of officers can be seen standing behind their police vehicles and pointing their guns at the building.

At one point one of them yells “Armed police. Get out.”

Later, another car pulls up and more officers get out and then some take torches and begin a visual search of the building in dim light.

Police closed the road from the Eastcott Hill roundabout to Goddard Avenue and many people in the area said they had to turn around to get home or leave.

In a statement about this incident, and a subsequent robbery on the same highway to which police responded, a spokesman confirmed that whoever the force was has not been caught.

“Officers carried out a warrant for the arrest of a wanted person at a property at around 6.30pm yesterday (Friday) in Bath Road, Swindon,” it said.

“The person was not located and investigations continue to locate him.”
