Before the FIA issued its technological directive on the flexibility of the front wing a couple of weeks ago, Williams had already traveled a long way to introduce a more flexible front wing for this car, after the leadership of McLaren and Mercedes last year.
He has proceeded with this wing and will be in the car for the first eight races (in which the interpretation ’24 is still valid). “All teams will do what they can with that,” says team director James Vowles, “but some will be more advanced than others. I don’t think we are market leaders in that. But the rule changes [from the Spanish GP onwards] It does not bother us and will probably have a deeper effect on others. “

When summarizing the team’s prospects, Vowles said: “You will see us progress forward, but what I have always said is that we have focused on 2026, ’27 and ’28. We are developing elements that enter line as a result of that. We have huge infrastructure changes this year that have entered online.
“We had 700 people, now more than 1,050 today and we have not finished. There is much more in the pipe. All that is happening in the background. What I want to make sure we are doing is not just short -term gain, a little gain at the long -term cost.
“We are here to make sure to win championships again, to do so, it will take a little more time, but that is the investment we are making. But look at our way, this should be good this year. “
