A Somerset multi-million dollar house described as “an iconic piece of architecture” that was once the home of a famous music composer has been put up for sale. The property in Penselwood, near Wincanton, was purpose-built by renowned architect Peter Harland in 1935 as the home for noted British composer Sir Arthur Bliss.

The striking home is described by real estate agent The Modern House as a “modern masterpiece.” It is Grade II listed and is set in 25 acres of gardens and ancient woodland.

Sir Bliss is said to have created some of his most revered works in the house’s music room. The property also has a four-bedroom guest house.

The driveway to the property, winding through a dense forest, is lined with camellias, rhododendrons, and azaleas. The house is made up of geometric shapes in white, with splashes of bright colours.

The house is not cheap. It is currently on the market with a reference price of £2,950,000.
