Western Virginia Small Company presented at the Super Bowl Commercial

Custard Stand Chili on Webster Springs is once again at the center of attention after appearing in a Google Super Bowl commercial that highlights local businesses in the 50 states.

What began as a small business on Webster Springs by the owners Angie and Dee Cowger, has appeared in Shark Tank, National Grocery Store Stors and now, a Google announcement.

“It only allows you to know that you can dream as big as you want to dream,” said Angie Cowger. “If we can climb a super bowl commercial in this small small neighborhood here on Webster Springs with a red light, anyone can climb to a super bowl commercial.”

“I think things are just falling to us in place,” said Dee Cowger. “I think your destiny and the good Lord take care of us, good things happen to good people.”

Being in a Super Bowl commercial is an important milestone for any business, but for Dee Cowger it was a dream come true.

“Dee had two dreams when we started making Chile of hot dogs,” Angie said.

“I wanted to be in a Super Bowl or Nascar commercial,” Dee Cowger said.

“We will only be in the Super Bowl commercial in West Virginia, but it is still a super bowl commercial,” Angie said.

The proposal to be in a Super Bowl commercial came from an unsuspecting email from which even Angie Cowger herself was not positive.

“He said that we are looking to do this project that involves 50 states, will involve national coverage, would you like to be part of it,” said Angie? “Well, we get those things all the time. So I sent it to the person we worked with with those screens.

The story of Stand Chili has been full of memories and Cowger says that is what could have caught Google’s attention.

“I think there were a couple of other Western Virginia businesses that they were seeing, and they liked our history,” said Angie. “They liked the fact that we have existed for a long time, that we developed from a restaurant and that we were working with national retailers for Chili’s sales in Cirlard Stand food products.”
